At the model's peak, sales for the Capri in America were higher than any other import vehicle save the Volkswagen Beetle. This distinctively styled, sporty yet affordable car has become something of a rarity today, with a thriving market of collectors who specialize in restoring old Capris, both the hard top and Capri soft top models.
For the earlier models, the Capri convertible top was only available as an ASC conversion. Buyers who wanted a Capri cabrio had to have it custom made through American Sunroof Corporatin/McLaren. These replacement Capri convertible top models had other customization options as well, from ground effects to suspension upgrades.
