Oldsmobile Replacement Vinyl Tops

Vinyl material covering the hard metal roof was popular with Oldsmobile from the 1960's through the 1980's. This top is often called a landau top because of the original carriage roofs with folding landau bars that look similar to the vinyl covering that roofs had when automobiles were produced.

Most of Oldsmobile vehicles had a full landau style roof, which is where the vinyl covering started at the front windshield and covered the roof all the way down the back pillar posts. Some Olds, like the Holiday 98, Cutlass, Delta, Toronado, Omega, Ciera and Calais, had half landau styles, too, where the vinyl didn't start at the front windshield, but at the midway point of the roof. The Calais, in fact, only came in the half style and is notable because GM, parent company of Oldsmobile, used E & G and Evans companies to do conversions on their vehicles for this style of roof. Another aftermarket distinction is that for the 1985 Ciera model. It was sometimes fit with an aftermarket shell, so you'll want to note whether this is the case for your model or not before selection a replacement vinyl top. (We carry the replacement tops for both the factory original style and the ones with the aftermarket shell conversion.)

Stitching and Seam Styles for Oldsmobile

Oldsmobile landau tops will come with one of two types of seams. The first in production was with seams running along the sides of the roof that were stitched, then folded over and heat sealed, so the stitching was not exposed. Then in 1973 some of the models switched from the hidden stitching to french seams that are double stitched and exposed. They ran french stitched seams on some models from the mid-70's through the mid-80's. TopsOnline offers the matching stitching style to the original factory so you can do an exact replacement.
