Chevrolet landau tops were popular from the 1960's through the 1980's with their latest model with a vinyl top, the Caprice, sporting one in 1991. Most Chevy vehicles with vinyl tops had a full landau design, but some had an option for a half landau roof, like the Chevy II / Nova, the Caprice and the Monte Carlo. The infamous El Camino also had a vinyl roof option and you'll see choices for a full vinyl top over the cab and pillars only or also running down the top side of the bed.
From the 1960's and early 1970's Chevrolet vinyl tops came with seams that ran along each side of the roof, which were stitched, then folded over and heat-sealed so the stitching did not show. Starting in the mid 1970's there was a shift to the French-style seams which were double-stitched on top with the stitching exposed. You'll see the stitching called out for each model and year combination to match that which was produced on the vehicles by the factory when they were released.
The Chevy replacement vinyl landau tops offered by TopsOnline come in a quality Haartz material with fleece backing that uses the Levant Grain Vinyl pattern. This is an exact reproduction of the original vinyl used on Chevrolet vehicles. We also offer original colors so you can do an exact match on what was original to your Chevy.
