Spike's 1959 DeSoto convertible top

To fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Spike’s 1959 DeSoto Fireflite – black with white trim – is uniquely iconic. Spike’s DeSoto, with the windows blacked out with spray paint so that he could drive during the daytime, features prominently in Spike’s high-profile arrivals and departures from Sunnydale.

The Fireflite was DeSoto’s flagship model at the time: it was both longer and wider than previous models (oh, the 50s!) and featured an extraordinary set of fins, as well as a hearty V8 engine. It went 0 to 60 in 11 seconds, which really isn’t bad, given that it weighed 4,070 pounds – just over two tons.

Spike drove a convertible DeSoto, although obviously he would only drop the soft top at night. If you have a convertible DeSoto that needs a new soft top (maybe because a vampire spray-painted all over it) we have replacement DeSoto convertible tops in a variety of colors and fabrics.
