(1) Which vehicle models do these tops support?
These convertible tops and kits are specifically designed to fit 1963 through 1967 Volkswagen Beetle models that attach at the rear with staples, accommodating both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations. For 1967 models--if the top attaches at the rear with cable, please see our 1967-1972 convertible top model page. Please feel free to reach out if you are unsure of which top is the correct fit for your car!
(2) Does it include the rear glass window?
No — the tops require reuse of your existing glass window. A replacement window is not included in the kit.
(3) What materials are available, and how are they constructed?
Two premium, factory-style material options are available: Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl and Haartz Stayfast Cloth. Both feature heat-sealed quarters, light-blocking, mildew/mold resistance, and UV-treated coloring for durable, long-lasting color. No sewing is required during installation.
(4) Can I install this Convertible Top myself?
Technically, yes, most people can manage to install a Convertible Top on their own, provided they have experience working on automotive upholstery projects. However, TopsOnline.com recommends using a professional installer. Why? Because (a) a professional is going to provide you with the very best convertible top installation that you could ask for; (b) in the rare case where an installer might make a mistake, they’ll take care of it – but if YOU make a mistake with your own installation, that’s coming out of your pocket; and (c) finally, manufacturers reserve the right to void a warranty due to a faulty installation when that installation is done by someone who is not a professional installer. So bottom line: don’t take the risk: hire a professional installer for your convertible top installation – it’s worth it and you won’t regret it!
(5) Is there a warranty included?
Yes — these tops are Robbins brand, known for professional-grade quality. They include a 5-year (60‑month) manufacturer warranty, along with an 18‑month labor allowance for professional installation.
