(1) Which Beetle models are these convertible tops and kits designed for?
These convertible tops and kits are specifically crafted to fit 1954 through 1957 Volkswagen Beetle models, accommodating both left‑hand and right‑hand drive configurations.
(2) Do I need to reuse my existing glass window?
Yes. The convertible top and kits require reuse of the existing glass window, as a replacement window is not included in the package.
(3) What materials are available for the tops?
Two high-quality materials are offered: Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl and Haartz Stayfast Cloth. Both options are factory‑style, crafted using Robbins brand tops, and feature heat‑sealed seams, mildew/mold resistance, and UV-treated coloring.
(4) Can I install this Convertible Top myself?
Technically, yes, most people can manage to install a Convertible Top on their own, provided they have experience working on automotive upholstery projects. However, TopsOnline.com recommends using a professional installer. Why? Because (a) a professional is going to provide you with the very best convertible top installation that you could ask for; (b) in the rare case where an installer might make a mistake, they’ll take care of it – but if YOU make a mistake with your own installation, that’s coming out of your pocket; and (c) finally, manufacturers reserve the right to void a warranty due to a faulty installation when that installation is done by someone who is not a professional installer. So bottom line: don’t take the risk: hire a professional installer for your convertible top installation – it’s worth it and you won’t regret it!
(5) Is there any warranty coverage included?
Yes. The Robbins brand convertible tops include a 5-year (60-month) warranty, along with an 18-month labor allowance. Further details are available on TopsOnline's warranty page.
