From 1984 through 1990, Ford Motor Company collaborated with British carmakers McLaren to create several crossover Mustang and Capri models. The Ford McLaren Mustang convertible top was a heavily modified hatchback Mustang with a convertible option available through American Sunroof Company (ASC).
The Ford and Capri McLaren soft top models proved to be popular aftermarket conversions for these cars which featured street racing styling cues, including a low-rider spoiler, stiffer suspension, and hood scoops.
