The Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible top has proven to be one of the company’s most popular models. The Eclipse was originally conceived through the company’s relationship with Chrysler. In the early years, it was also sold as the Plymouth Laser and the Eagle Talon. Later model years moved farther away from the Chrysler vehicles.

Offering the Mitsubishi Eclipse top as a convertible also boosted the sales of the Eclipse Spyder convertible top option. The Eclipse Spyder is the sport option of the Eclipse line, which (depending on the model year) included a more robust engine, and a more luxurious set of interior and trim options.
