This rear wheel driver roadster was produced by the Rover Group from 1995 to 2011. It was the first time the MG name had been revived since the original line finally ended in 1980. The MGF convertible top was the first new car launched by the Rover Group after the BMW takeover, and was powered by a racing engine which came in either a 118 hp or 143 hp option. The MGF soft top quickly became one of the top selling sports cars in Britain until being unseated by its successor, the MG TF.
The MG TF soft top was redesigned from the ground up, with even more power than the MGF and a better safety performance to boot. Sales of the extremely popular MG TF convertible top outstripped all of its rivals, including the Toyota MR2 and the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
