In 1987 the Chrysler corporation released the Dodge Shadow convertible top, a model which was intended to replace the Dodge Charger/Plymouth Omni as that model was phased out. Dodge convertible top models have long been popular as an affordable, fun addition to the Chrysler line-up.

This replacement Dodge soft top model was built on the K-car platform, and had a surprising amount of storage space given the model style. They were available in various trim levels, with a Dodge convertible top being an option for the Highline and ES trim levels.
